The music of Reijseger/Fraanje/Sylla has been described as ‘the perfect amalgam of jazz, African songs and classical music’ (North Sea Jazz). The trio has released two albums for Winter and Winter and composed and performed music for several films by renowned filmmaker Werner Herzog.

The trio delivers powerful and beautiful music that is also melancholic, always strongly supported by the excellent voice of their African singer. Fraanje’s exuberant, improvised piano playing and Reijseger’s subtle cello melodies create an eclectic, sometimes spiritual whole where nothing is quite as it seems.

  • Ernst Reijseger (NL) – cello
  • Harmen Fraanje (NL) – piano
  • Mola Sylla (SN) – vocals, xalam, m’bira

This concert is a double-bill with Alice Leggett Quartet.
