Pianist Wolfert Brederode has been part of his quartet for almost ten years now and the idea of recording as a duo has been maturing for a while.
The pandemic brought the right focus to release their debut ‘Avalon Songs’. The album is inspired by the Celtic myth of the island Avalon where King Arthur is supposed to be buried.
The repertoire contains adaptations of songs by Marlene Dietrich, Billy Strayhorn and new originals.
