Maria de Fátima is a Fado phenomenon: born in 1961 in Boavista, Lisbon, she started performing in public at the age of 10 and only 2 years later, she won Portugal’s most prestigious singing competition A Grande Noite do Fado. Henceforth, the Miúda de Boavista (Little girl from Boavista), as she was called, was constantly touring through Portugal and abroad, recorded LP’s and shared the stage with legendary artists as Amália Rodrigues, Fernando Mauricio, Tony de Matos. In 1980, she took the Fado with her to Amsterdam, where she kept on living and performing up to today. In 2016, she was rewarded with the presidential medal of honor Ordem do Infante D. Henrique for her services to Portuguese culture.

You will be thrilled to witness her happy re-encounter with upcoming Fado star Miguel Ramos! Their friendship goes back as far as 1984, the year when Miguel got his first guitar from Manuel Mendonça, Maria’s accompanist and later father-in-law. Miguel himself accompanied great artists as Camané, Carlos do Carmo, Aldina Duarte, but also found his own style as a singer. Only last year, he released his debut CD Aqui na Alma which was an overnight success in Portugal. After presenting it in Spain, France, Belgium and Canada, this will be his first performance here in the Netherlands.
