The name DYAR means house in Arabic. This is also how the members of the band see the function of their music, an imaginary house in which people feel at home, in which everyone is welcome and in which Arabic and Western music can live together. Nawras Altaky (Ud and vocals), Modar Salama (percussion), Lucas Dols (double bass, including Room Eleven and Tin Men & the Telephone) and Gino Bombrini (percussion, including Skip & Die and Komodo) started the band after their performance with Caro Emerald in a sold-out Paradiso in June 2017.

We are happy to confirm that Janne Schra, will be joining DYAR on the roof for a unique collaboration. Janne Schra was the composer and singer of Room Eleven, one of the Netherlands’ most successful bands at the beginning of the millennium, scoring 2 golden and 1 platinum records. We are so happy that Lucas Dols and Janne Schra followed up on our idea of a unique reunion on our roof!
